Figure 3-2 : Method of court mounting medals (full size and miniature size) (Measurements for miniature size shown in brackets)
Figure 3-3 : Court mounting of more than five normal size medals
(see paragraph 2.23 regarding miniatures)
2.22 Miniatures are mounted on a single horizontal line & extended over the left breast towards the shoulder but not beyond the shoulder seam, nor beyond the inner edge of the left lapel. The medals do not overlap unless the number worn precludes compliance with this provision.
2.23 Miniature medals may be court mounted in the same manner as normal size medals (see part 5, chapter 3, figure3-2) Miniature medals do not overlap unless the number worn requires it.
The dimensions for the Miniature insert for the 8M Military Medal Box (catering for more than 8 medals) is 142mm wide x 52mm long. The width has been calculated using a size 111cm mess dress jacket by measuring the distance from the shoulder seam to the inner edge of the left lapel, 17cm below the junction of the collar and the forward edge of the epaulette. (as stated in ASOD volume 2 part 5 2.20)
The 140mm measurement should be the maximum width of the miniature medals, overlapping would then be necessary.
